What is a good distance learning program for elementary edu.? I am looking for a good elementary education program that is online. I don't mean programs like University of Phoenix, etc. |

I dont believe there are any.
I have been answering YA for quite a while now - and have posted repeatedly about the lack of online teaching credential programs. The only thing I've found is Western Governors website claims to have begun a credentialing online program - but no one has responded as to if its legit.
The problem is student teaching. Every state requires it - and large online programs cannot offer it. This leaves only regional availability - and its not worth their while to start one with limited student prospects.
There are tiny programs that have unusual requirements like CalState Teach (requires you to already have a classroom - odd no?)
If you do come across one, please post the details.
edit - the post below suggested a school. This is exactly the problem - that school does not have a credentialing program (similar to all the others) What they do offer is a masters degree in education - This is *not* sufficient to teach. People looking into this often mistake the two degrees.
